Platform Terms of Use

Eligibility and accounts

• Users must be at least 18 unless YTC opens a pathway for minors with separate safeguards and consent arrangements.
• Users must provide accurate information, protect their credentials, and immediately report unauthorised use.
• Users must not create false or multiple accounts to circumvent controls or share an account or event attendance code.
• Reasonable verification of identity or capacity may be requested when concerns arise or for sensitive roles, using as little data as possible.

Service and membership

YTC provides a space for professional networking, knowledge exchange, public profiles, events, mentoring, and opportunities. Registration does not guarantee admission to every event, programme, or opportunity. Capacity limits and published criteria may apply, taking account of application order, diversity, and suitability. Membership does not authorise anyone to represent the collective or use its brand without permission.

Member content

Members retain ownership of the content they publish. They grant YTC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, limited licence to store, display, and process that content as needed to operate the service and promote an activity in which the member has agreed to appear. The licence ends when the content is deleted, except for temporary backups or material lawfully included in an agreed report or recording.

Members confirm that they have the right to publish their content and that it does not violate privacy, intellectual property, or the law.

Member profiles must not be copied, automatically collected, or reused to build databases or marketing campaigns.

YTC may remove non-compliant content or restrict its visibility, with an appropriate explanation and a right of appeal where there is no urgent risk.

Prohibited use

• Fraud, impersonation, spam, harassment, discrimination, defamation, or disclosure of private information.
• Political or partisan campaigning and recruitment in collective spaces, or claiming that YTC endorses a political position.
• Unauthorised access, penetration testing without permission, service disruption, bypassing restrictions, or automated data extraction.
• Publishing malware, unlawful content, misleading job offers, undisclosed recruitment fees, or exploitative schemes.
• Using the brand, member lists, or events to create the false impression of a partnership or endorsement.

Opportunities and third parties

Members or partners may publish jobs, grants, training opportunities, or links to external services. Publication does not endorse the organisation or guarantee the accuracy of an offer or an application outcome. Users are responsible for checking contracts, identities, fees, and privacy terms, and should report suspicious offers. YTC shares application data with an organisation only after the user makes an explicit choice.

Suspension and termination

Users may delete their accounts under the Privacy Policy. YTC may restrict, suspend, or terminate an account for breaching these terms or the Code of Conduct, or for threatening security or community safety. Any action must be proportionate and reasoned, with an appeal mechanism, except for interim measures needed to prevent imminent harm.

Intellectual property and brand

The Yemen Tech Collective name, logo, identity, and official assets are owned or managed for the benefit of the collective. They must not be used in the name of an event, product, campaign, account, or domain without written approval. Educational materials remain subject to the licence chosen by their owner, and YTC encourages open licences where appropriate.

Availability and limits of liability

During its early stage, the service is provided according to available capacity and may change or stop temporarily for maintenance or security. YTC seeks accuracy and continuity but does not guarantee that the service will be error-free or lead to a job, partnership, or professional outcome. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits YTC’s duty to protect data and manage risks responsibly.

Law and disputes

To the extent permitted, these terms are governed by the laws in force in the Republic of Yemen and any mandatory rules that apply because of the user’s location or where the service is delivered. The parties should first seek to resolve disputes through direct communication, good faith, and community mediation where appropriate and safe, without depriving any party of access to an appropriate authority. This clause will be reviewed when legal registration is complete.

Changes and contact

The effective version and its date are published on the website, and users receive reasonable notice before material changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new version where the law permits. For questions, contact hello@yementc.org.
